Quantum Corsets Queer Imprint

Welcome to Quantum Corsets, Lycan Valley’s newest imprint featuring queer fiction written by queer authors.

What is Quantum Corsets?

‘Quantum’ references significant energy and momentum

‘Corsets’ represents empowerment and self-expression without constraints

‘Queer’ is intended to be all inclusive of the LGBTQ2+ community and fluidity, while rejecting restrictive labels and challenging societal norms

Quantum Corsets Content

Quantum Corsets will publish horror, dark fiction, mystery, thriller, suspense, cultural, and mixed genre novels, novellas and collections for adult, young adult and middle grade readers.

We are not looking for pure romance or porn. These elements may be present as appropriate within the story, but should not be the main genre.

Although Pink Triangle Rhapsody focused specifically on the gay male experience, the anthology would fit in perfectly with Quantum Corsets and is a great sampling of the energy, self-expression and queerness we’re looking for with this imprint.

Own Voices Only

While Lycan Valley acknowledges and accepts that writers can create believable and compelling characters unlike themselves, Quantum Corsets will publish Own Voices only (others may still submit to Lycan Valley during open submission periods).

This means all Quantum Corsets authors have a shared identity with their main characters and the story comes from authentic perspective, experience and understanding.

Open Submission Period

Quantum Corsets will open to public submissions for novellas beginning February 1 and closing June 30. Guidelines and addition information can be found on our submission portal.

Follow Quantum Corsets on Facebook and Instagram.

Medusa Reimagined - Open for Submissions

Lycan Valley is looking for a modern reimagining of the Medusa story with strong characters and perspective.

However, we don’t want just any Medusa story. We want to see a strong bipoc* woman* deeply rooted in culture. And, regardless of how she gets there, Medusa should be victorious and win in the end.

We prefer own voices for this project, however, we will read and consider all submissions except those written by AI or incorporate the use of AI in their submissions.

We had initially intended on creating an anthology, for which we commissioned cover art, and have decided this would be best as a standalone novella or possibly a collection of three related novellas in one book.

Novella length (between 17,000 and 30,000 words) is preferred, but will consider both novellas and full-length novels for this project.

Please use Shunn Manuscript formatting, .rtf or .pages file. TITLE/LAST NAME/PAGE in the top corner.

Must include a brief synopsis/summary plus character descriptions (a couple sentences each), preferably in the cover letter section of submission portal at Duotrope. Must include the characters culture and (if applicable) how it relates to the author (own voices).

In the submission title section, please include The Book Title - Word Count - YA/Adult

No multiple submissions or simultaneous submissions please. Submissions will be open for this project through December 31**.

Short-listed submissions will be held until a final decision is made at the end of January. Please do not withdraw or submit elsewhere until notifications are sent out.

*If you’re not sure what we mean by ‘bipoc’ or ‘woman’, this might not be the right press for your submission.

**We may extend this deadline if necessary. It is unlikely we will close it early, but if such circumstances arise, we will send out notifications.

The Pulp Horror Book of Phobias, Vol 2 - SUBMISSIONS NOW OPEN!

Public submissions for Volume 2 of the Pulp Horror Book of Phobias are now open. Details will be updated after the invite-only submission period. Full details and submission instructions can be found at Submittable here.

As the graphic above suggests, the theme for this volume is domestic phobias - anything you might find, or come into contact with, inside or around a house or home. This very broad theme covers many common phobias such as arachnophobia, claustrophobia and agoraphobia, but for your story to be accepted it must bring something new! We suggest taking a look at the stories in Volume 1 for a general idea on theme and style.

Send us your best and good luck!
